Terry Baum

President
terrybaum@ottobaum.com

In 1992 Terry graduated with a BS degree from the College of Business from Arizona State University, got married, moved to Tucson, AZ, and worked as a laborer for Sun Valley Masonry while his wife finished her BS degree in Nursing at the University of Arizona.  His dad, Kenny Baum thought I’d be a good fit in the accounting department.  So, after Janeen graduated in May of 1993, they packed up, moved to Morton, and Terry started working as an accounting clerk whose main responsibility was to collect past due account receivables.  After a few months and seeing the need for leadership in the office, he asked a lot of questions, streamlined the office, and consolidated responsibilities so that we operated more efficiently.  In a few years I took on the role of controller, then general manager, and in 2007, he was named the president.

Not many people have the career opportunity that Terry did. While growing up and even in college, he never saw himself working for the family business.  Terry is grateful that his dad gave me an opportunity at OBCI, especially since they wanted to raise their family in a small town.  Terry came alive in the accounting office and found purpose in the work. Without a controller at the time, he found so many things to try to improve and then get involved in many other aspects of the business-like safety, insurance, accounting software, and developing policy and procedures.  Terry thought management grew exasperated with all the questions and challenges to the status quo.  However, that freedom to help shape the future of OBCI provided the motivation he needed to make OBCI his career choice.

In Terry's spare time he enjoys fitness, gardening, being a grandpa, and traveling.

John Darling came to OBCI in June 2020 after being referred by another OBCI employee.  John and his wife are good friends with Brock Quinlan, and Brock said plenty of good things about the company.  Brock's comments motivated John to apply for a warehouse team member position.  Once John was hired, he observed that OBCI genuinely cares about the work they do, the people they work with, and making employees feel a part of the team.  In his free time, John loves hanging out with his wife and three boys doing outdoor activities.
